Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 24, 2024

Thank you for choosing PinGuard. We take your security and privacy with the utmost seriousness. By using our application, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. We are committed to transparency regarding how your data is handled.

01 Email Address

Why We Need It

We require your email address to send security alerts, captured evidence, and critical system notifications. This serves as your primary channel for receiving security logs from your device.

How We Use It

When a security event is triggered, PinGuard uses your provided email to dispatch reports. We ensure that this information is never shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

02 Camera Access

Why We Need It

To capture photos of unauthorized users attempting to access your device. This provides visual evidence for your security logs.

How We Handle Data

Photos are captured silently when an intrusion is detected. These images are stored locally before being transmitted directly to your secure email. We do not maintain a cloud gallery of your images.

03 Microphone Usage

Why We Need It

Required for ambient audio recording during a security breach, allowing you to hear the surroundings of your device if it is stolen or compromised.

Audio clips are encrypted and treated as sensitive evidence. PinGuard does not listen to your conversations in the background; recording is only active during user-defined trigger events.

04 Location Services

Background Access Details

PinGuard requires "Allow all the time" location permissions to track your device even when the app is closed. This is essential for the 'Find My Device' functionality and location-based triggers.

Data Handling

Your precise location data is stored locally on the device and only transmitted to you during an active alert. We do not sell your movement history to advertisers.

05 SMS (Emergency Alert)

Why We Need It

To send emergency SMS alerts to your trusted contacts if your device is compromised or if you trigger the SOS functionality.

PinGuard only sends SMS to the numbers you manually whitelist. We do not read your personal incoming or outgoing SMS messages.

06 Phone State & Number

Why We Need It

We monitor phone state to detect SIM card changes. If a new SIM is inserted, PinGuard can alert you immediately of the potential theft.

The device ID and phone state information are used exclusively for security authentication and device-binding purposes.

07 Usage Analytics

We collect anonymous diagnostic data to improve app performance and stability. This includes crash reports and feature usage statistics. This data is completely anonymized and cannot be traced back to an individual user.

08 Data Protection

We implement industry-standard encryption for all data in transit. Your security logs and personal settings are protected by multi-layer security protocols. Remember, most of your sensitive data is stored locally on your device, giving you total control.

09 Data Retention & Deletion

Retention Period

We only retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Transactional security logs are purged from our temporary transmission buffers immediately after successful delivery.

Right to Delete

You may request the full deletion of your account and all associated data at any time through the app settings or by contacting our support team. Once deleted, this information cannot be recovered.
